The UniStar II UPS is designed to meet the power protection
needs of today's sensitive electronic equipment and computer
loads. With over 25 years of application experience we know
that UPS reliability begins with its design. Being a true
On-Line double conversion design, the UniStar II provides
both regulated output voltage and frequency. The input has
been power factor corrected and designed to reflect harmonic
distortion of less than 6% THD back to the input system.
The UPS output is designed to provide a pure sine wave output
with less than 3% THD. This low distortion output sine wave,
coupled with a crest factor of 3:1 allows the UniStar II "SG" series
to provide a very reliable output power to any combination
of linear and non-linear loads. A wide voltage input range
extending the battery life and assuring that the battery
backup power will be available when needed.
The UniStar II microprocessor controller manages a variety
of functions. First, special circuitry has been incorporated
into the UniStar II series UPS designed to protect and lengthen
the service life of the most sensitive component of an UPS
system … its batteries. Other controller functions include
UPS self-diagnosis testing and the operation of the front
panel display which reports the status of the UPS … on-line,
On-Battery, Bypass, Overload, Low Battery and System Fault.
The UniStar II is available in 6 kVA, 8 kVA and 10 kVA ratings.
The universal models (catalog number ending in 4) are equipped
with an output isolation transformer for added electrical
noise attenuation and increased output voltage selection.
