The UniStar II "U" Series UPS is designed
to meet the power protection needs of sensitive electronic
equipment and computer loads while addressing the power
quality concerns of today. UPS reliability begins with
its design and over 25 years of application experience.
The UniStar II series UPS delivers true on-line power,
of high quality, with low distortion, and true sine-wave
output allowing the UPS to power any combination of
linear and non-linear loads. Being a true On-Line double
conversion design, the UniStar II provides regulated
output voltage and frequency and its input has been
power factor corrected and designed to reflect harmonics
of less than 6% THD back to the input system under
any load conditions. A wide voltage input range of
as low as 27% below and 10% above nominal reduces battery
discharge cycling while extending the battery life
and assuring that the battery backup power will be
available when needed.
Special circuitry has been incorporated into the UniStar
II "U" series UPS designed to protect and
lengthen the service life of the most sensitive component
of a UPS system ... its batteries. The UPS Micro processor
controller manages a variety of functions including
a battery management system that tracks battery charge
status preventing battery overcharging , self-diagnostic
testing, and the front panel display which reports
the status of the UPS ... On-Line, On-Battery, Bypass,
Overload, Low Battery, and System Fault.
The UniStar II available in 1 kVA, 2 kVA, and 3 kVA
ratings isolates the connected load from the AC input
supply, protecting the load from voltage sags, spikes,
surges , brownouts, blackouts, transients, RFI electrical
noise and frequency variations. In the event of AC
input supply failure, an internal audible alarm sounds
and the UPS will continue, without interruption, to
provide safe, clean continuous power from its sealed
batteries. When the AC input supply return s to normal,
the UPS returns to its double conversion operating
mode and automatically recharges the batteries for
the next power disturbance.
